The University Successfully Hosted the Second International Conference of Intelligent Manufacturing Education and Textbook

From September 20 to 22, 2024, the 2024 International Conference of Intelligent Manufacturing Education and Textbook was held in Hangzhou. The conference was jointly organized by Hangzhou Dianzi University and the Zhejiang Province Association for Higher Education, and was co-hosted by the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hangzhou Dianzi University, the Teaching Material Research Base for Intelligent Manufacturing Specialty of Zhejiang Province, the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Education, and the Hangzhou Dianzi University Information Engineering School. The event received support from organizations such as the Mechanical Education Union of Excellent Engineers and the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province.

Academicians Duan Baoyan and Tu Shandong from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, former President of Hangzhou Dianzi University, Professor Zhu Zefei, Director Zhu Hongfei of the Textbook Management Division of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Provincial, Vice Secretary of Party Qi Mingjun of Hangzhou Dianzi University, former President of Northeast University, Professor Zhao Ji, former Vice President of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, Professor Zhang Yimin, General Manager of Zhejiang University Press, Jin Gengda, Professor He Cunfu from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Technology, Professor Chen Yunfei from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Southeast University, Professor Liu Geng from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University, Chief Editor Zhang Xinghui from the Chemical Industry Press, and Dean Ni Jing of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hangzhou Dianzi University were among the invited experts and scholars attending the conference.

The conference was chaired by Academician Tu Shandong and Professor Zhu Zefei. It primarily featured invited and oral presentations, focusing on new explorations, practices, and concepts in the development of intelligent manufacturing engineering education and textbooks, both domestically and internationally.

On the morning of September 21, the opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Ni Jing, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Hangzhou Dianzi University. Co-chair Professor Zhu Zefei delivered a speech, expressing hopes that experts and scholars would use this conference as a platform to reach a consensus, spark ideas, and promote the teaching of intelligent manufacturing and the development of textbooks to new heights, thereby providing a solid educational foundation for the development of the intelligent manufacturing industry.

Director Zhu Hongfei of the Textbook Management Division of the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province addressed the conference on behalf of the supporting organizations, expressing hopes that the conference would gather insights and explore new ideas, methods, and theories for the development of intelligent manufacturing engineering education and textbook construction, providing comprehensive guidance for establishing a complete training system for intelligent manufacturing professionals and stronger support for the construction of intelligent manufacturing textbooks in Zhejiang Province.


Vice Secretary of Party Qi Mingjun of Hangzhou Dianzi University introduced the university and the School of Mechanical Engineering's efforts in teaching, research, and talent development. He expressed hopes for broad communication, in-depth discussions, and the stimulation of innovative ideas at the conference, contributing wisdom and strength to the development of national intelligent manufacturing programs.

Academician Duan Baoyan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered an invited report titled “Discipline Development and Talent Cultivation.”

Academician Tu Shandong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering presented an invited report titled “The First Principles of Education.”

Former President of Northeast University, Professor Zhao Ji, delivered an invited report titled “Empowering Upgrades in Mechanical Engineering Education - Introduction to the 'Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Textbook' (2nd Edition).”

Jin Gengda, General Manager of Zhejiang University Press, delivered an invited report titled “Building a New Ecosystem for Digital Textbook Development.”

Professor Tomoyuki Yamaguchi from Tsukuba University in Japan delivered an invited report titled “Mechanical Design Engineering Education Considering Manufacturing and Practical Use.”

Professor He Cunfu from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Technology delivered an invited report titled “Characterization and Multi-Source Quantitative Evaluation of Non-Technical Competencies in Engineering Education.”

Professor Chen Yunfei from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Southeast University delivered an invited report titled “Insights from Exploring the Mechanisms of Friction, Vibration, and Noise for Innovative Talent Training Models.”

Professor Liu Geng from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University delivered an invited report titled “New Technologies for Electromechanical Transmission in Intelligent Manufacturing Equipment.”

Former Vice President of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, Professor Zhang Yimin, delivered an invited report titled “Reflections on the Construction of the 'Mechanical Vibration' Textbook and Course.”

Chief Editor Zhang Xinghui from the Chemical Industry Press delivered an invited report titled “Textbook Construction and Planning for Professional Courses in the New Era.”

On September 22, the conference set up three sessions: “Talent Cultivation and Professional Development in Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering,” “Textbook Development for Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering,” and “Teaching Reform and Research in Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering,” to discuss the exploration and practical outcomes in the field of intelligent manufacturing engineering and textbook development.
